I want the world to know the beauty of life, my history, my environment, my struggles. Each piece
speaks from the reclaimed cypress wood found in slave homes and barns, to the 3-D carving of the
wood I feel taught by my blind grandmother’s hands, to the painted colors that express my
emotions. When I touch the finished product I feel the history. I see the beauty of nature. I can
hear the voices and the music. I can smell and taste the wonderful foods. This is Louisiana. This is
my heritage, my family. This is me.
